Account Details

Welcome to Roma, the ancient Roman Simulated Strategy and Roleplay game. So you are about to register and you can not decide what to pick, or you have already registered an account. This part contains some information and is designed to help you make a choice and get you on your way, or hep you explain the consequences of your choice.

Cognomen

The Cognomen, or nickname is also your username, as chosen in the registration form. You cannot choose a username that is already in use, or exists in any other form, and you may not choose a username that is vulgar or obscene, or offensive in any other way, is misleading and attempts to impersonate another player, a member of our staff, or a third party.

The username may contain a minimum of 3 charachters to a maximum of 20 characters. These characters must be ordinary characters.

Password

The password may contain a minimum of 4 charachters to a maximum of 12 characters. These characters must be ordinary letters or numbers.

If you have lost your password then you should contact the administrator of the game.

As a word of caution please do not choose a password that contains sensitive information about yourself. No security is fullproof and hackers love to find such information if they do happen to find it. Also do not choose a password that is easy to guess by other players for obvious reasons.

Gens

You must pick a gens for your family in the game. You can pick one of 40 different gens. These gens are names of historical clans in ancient Rome. The choice of the gens affects your family members ability to marry. See the paragraph on marriage for more information. For example characters of the same gens cannot marry eachother. So for example, if your character is of the Julia gens and the character of the other player is also of the Julia gens, then no marriage can take place. However, should, the gens be diffirent, then marriage is posible, provided both characters are single and of the required age.

You can see a small description of the history of the gens when you click on the "about the gens" link on the register page.

Family Trait

The Family trait is a bonus that affects each member of your family in the game.

The bonuses and traits are:
prolific is plus 5 percent resources from harvests
industrious is plus 5 percent resources from mines and forests
pious is 20 percent more chance of blessings and blessings have greater effect
courageous is 1 extra offense point against barbarians
stealthy is plus 10 percent chance of a succesful theft or assassination
productive is plus 5 percent chance of children

Starting Resources

You start the game with a limited amount of resources that will get you by in the first few seasons in the game.

Family Members

You start out with 6 family members. The number of family members you may have at anyone time may decrease or increase due to births, deaths, adoption, manumission and marriage.

Inactivity

An account that has been inactive for 8 days or longer will be deleted unless it is in vacation mode.

Vacation Mode

Accounts in vacation mode will not be deleted. Characters owned by the player in vacation mode will not lose fatigue, health, sanitation and nutrient points as long as the account is in vacation mode. Keep in mind that the characters do still get older, so vacation mode does still affect the age of the character and hence also things like death, retirement and duration of the magistracy.

Account Management

You have sole access to your account. Under no circumstance should accounts be traded, or be sitted, or be given away, unless prior permission was given by the administrator or moderators. Your account is monitored by the staff and may come under close scrutiny, if we see any suspicious behaviour.

IP

If you are unable to register, then a person who has the same IP as you, has already registered prior to you, or your IP is blocked due to violations of the rules of this game.

You may not share an IP in the game, unless prior permission was given, should you do so, then you will get caught and have your accounts deleted from the game. You will get banned from the game, if you keep breaking the rules. Notify the administrator if you do share an IP for whatever reason. You need to show solid evidence to support your case, that you are indeed more than one person, if you do not wish to have your account deleted. Proxies are not allowed for the same obvious reasons.

Cheaters be warned! You do not get to appeal a permanent banishment! A severe breach of the rules will cause you to lose the privilege to play this game, it is as simple as that.

Accidental or Wrongful Deletion

We take great care, to try and prevent wrongful deletions of accounts, even so there is a minute possibility that it can happen.

If you feel that your account was deleted by accident, or by mistake, or any other unjust cause, then you should report this to the administrator or relevant moderators. Keep in mind that the account cannot be restored to the situation prior to the deletion. There are ways where you can try to prevent this situation from occuring in the first place.

1
You should be aware that there may be others who have the same IP address (Internet Protocol Address, a numerical label used to identify your computer on the internet and route data packets) as you, who also plays the game, or who wants to play this game. This may be particularly true if you share internet with your neighbours, so ask them if they also play, or what their intentions are. If you do know that someone else plays under the exact same IP as yourself, then warn the administrator or moderators, because failure to do so may result in your account being deleted.

2
Your brother or sister, or other family members, or household members, may also play the game on the same computer you are currently using, likewise you should try to be aware, if that is the case. It is highly unlikely that both of you may play the game in this case and you may be forced to share the account with for example your brother.

3
The chance of accidental deletion may increase if you also login somewhere else from the usual place you login, like: when you have recently moved, when you login at school, or your friends house, or even a holiday resort. If you are worried that the administrator or moderators may delete your account mistaking it to be multi, then report it to the administrator or moderators and warn them about it.

4
If you feel you have been unfairly treated by the moderators, for something you posted, then you may report this to a moderator, the moderator may then contact the other moderators and determine if the deletion was fair, or unfair, or a mistake. If the cause of the deletion was determined to be just, then your report will not lead to your account being reinstated, or your ban lifted.

5
Be honest and fair and play according to the rules, guidelines and etiquette and the chances of your account getting deleted, whether wrongful or just, greatly diminishes. So be honest and open in your dealings, be truthful in what you communicate and do not try to cheat or exploit the system.
